I successfully neglected my stats assignment again tonight. I decided I needed to watch a movie instead. Tonight's choice was Step Up.

I'm sure some of you are thinking, "UGH, that movie's such a cliché!" or "EWW that's such a chick-flick!" - and you know what? For the most part, you're right! Maybe that means I'm just a mindless drone, a slave to pop culture and fickle trends. If that's the case, then so be it. Fairytales always were my preferred residence.

I guess you could say the main reason I watch this movie is the dancing. I watch the dancers move to beats that reverberate through the very core of my being. Yes it's just a movie, and yes, to most people, music is just music, but I'm not one of those people.

How anyone could sit still when they hear music is beyond me - especially when it comes to rnb and hip hop. I'm not saying those are my favourite genres of music, but they're at the top of the list when it comes to music that makes me want to dance.

Do you ever get the feeling that you just want to sing and dance in every way possible? To show everyone exactly what you're feeling...exactly what passion really is?

I feel like that a lot. No, I can't dance...and even though I like to tell myself I can sing, I really can't. It's an amazing feeling...seeing a series of dance moves or hearing just one particular chord...and the world around you just stops. You live and breathe that single moment, and every fibre of your simple existence is lost within it.

As amazing as that feeling is, it can bring on a sense of loneliness. A feeling such as this needs to be shared, but when no one around you understands the dizzying highs, what do you do?

If I knew the answer, I'd be free to enjoy those highs as they are meant to be enjoyed...but instead, I slip back, I spiral down, to a place where not even you can reach me.

It's dark here, and the air is thick with the sorrow of those here before me, but now long gone.

From the outside, I'm sure I look just like everyone else.
